Başkent University 2nd High School Teams Chess Tournament has ended. At the end of the tournament, which was organized with the cooperation of the Turkish Chess Federation and Başkent University Center for Education and Consultancy Services (BEDAM) and which witnessed the struggle of high school teams, Ankara Atatürk High School became the champion, and Balıkesir Şehit Turgut Solak Science High School was the first runner-up, Universal College was the second runner-up. TED College got the fourth place and Mustafa Azmi Doğan Anadolu High School finished the tournament in fifth place.
Başkent University 2nd High School Teams Chess Tournament, which was realized with cooperation with the Turkish Chess Federation and Başkent University Center for Education and Consultancy Services (BEDAM) at Başkent University Bağlıca Campus on 26-27 May 2018 ended with the award ceremony.
At the ceremony where the ranking teams and athletes were awarded with trophies, medals and various technology products, WIM Nilüfer Çınar Çorlulu, Member of the Board of Directors of TCF, made the first speech. Çorlulu said, “I would like to thank Başkent University for making its mark on the chess of our Capital City.” and expressed that they had successfully realized the third international tournament, which had been held in cooperation with Başkent University this year and thanked Başkent University for their support.
The Director of Başkent University Center for Education and Consultancy Services (BEDAM), Prof. Dr. Ali Halıcı also congratulated all the athletes competing in the tournament. He remarked: “We have hosted more than 100 chess players for two days. They have competed with each other both competitively and in a gentlemanly manner. It was very important for us to host them. I hope it was enjoyable for both the athletes and their parents, and we hope to experience the same excitement together in the next year’s tournament that we will hold for the third time.”
At the end of the race for the summit where 20 teams and 100 high school athletes competed for 5 rounds, Ankara Atatürk High School became the champion, Balıkesir Şehit Turgut Solak Science High School became the first runner-up, Evrensel College became the second runner-up, TED College got the fourth place and Mustafa Azmi Doğan Anatolian High School finished the tournament in the fifth place.
The award ceremony; was realized with the participation of TCF Board Member WIM Nilüfer Çınar Çorlulu and BEDAM’s Director Prof. Dr. Ali Halıcı, TCF Ankara Provincial Representative Engin Güleç, Tournament Director FA Aylin İbişoğlu, athletes, parents and Başkent University family.
Many high school students and their families were hosted on the Başkent University campus during the tournament whose goal was popularizing chess among high schools.
