International Başkent University Open Chess Tournament, which was organized for the sixth time this year with the cooperation of our university and Turkish Chess Federation, was completed after the award ceremony held on August 20th, 2023 on Başkent University Bağlıca Campus.
International Başkent University Open Chess Tournament, which was held between August 15 – 20, was carried out with the participation of 700 athletes from 10 countries and 52 provinces of Türkiye.
The award ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Haberal, Founder and Chairman of the Supreme Board of Directors of Başkent University, Aşkın Keleş and Ömer Asım Ötegen, Deputy Presidents of the Turkish Chess Federation, Prof. Dr. Haldun Müderrisoğlu, Rector of Başkent University, Prof. Dr. Ali Haberal and Prof. Dr. Kenan Araz, former Rectors of Başkent University, our Vice President Nilüfer Çınar Çorlulu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ceyda Kuloğlu, Director of Başkent University Education and Consultancy Services Center (BEDAM), our Provincial Representative Engin Güleç, BEDAM Assistant Director and Chess Coach Aylin İbişoğlu, referees, athletes and their families.
